Gene Charles Phillips

Gene Charles Phillips (88) was born August 9, 1937, in Rhodes, Iowa. He passed away on December 2, 2025. He resided in Hot Springs Village, AR. Gene grew up in Marshall County Iowa attending school at Rhodes, Melbourne, and Ferguson, Iowa. After graduating from Ferguson High School, Gene joined the Air Force. Following that, he went to work for Fisher Governor Company and Lennox Industries in Marshalltown, Iowa. He worked at Lennox Industries working in Marshalltown, IA, Denver, CO, and Stuttgart, AR. Gene married Marla Hiatt on November 8, 1958, at Melbourne United Methodist Church. Gene and Marla moved to Northglenn, Colorado in 1960., while in Northglenn Colorado they were blessed with the birth of their son Steven (October 1970). Gene continued to work for Lennox industries in Denver Colorado until April 1976 when they moved with Lennox to Stuttgart, Arkansas, where he became manager of traffic and distribution. They lived 21 years in Stuttgart before retiring and moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. During retirement, he volunteered at Project Hope Food Bank (Board Member), Habitat for Humanity, and Arkansas Food Bank. He was a member of Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, and the Peace of the Hills Emmaus Community.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Phillips, Sister - Mildred (Warren)Preston, Brother - Vernon "Bud" (Anita)Phillips, Brother-in-law - Dale Miller, and Father-in-law Carl Hiatt and Mother-in-law Caroline Schiebel Hiatt.
He is survived by his wife, Marla Hiatt Phillips of HSV, Son - Steven Phillips (fiancé Deb) of Doylestown, PA, Granddaughters - Payton Phillips (Zach) Tarver, Conway, AR., Megan Phillips, Fort Smith, AR, Brynn Phillips and Kaitlin Phillips, Jonesboro, AR, Brother - Lonnie (Thelma) Phillips, Newton, IA, Twin Brother, Glen (Ida) Phillips, HSV, AR, and Sister - Darlene Miller, DesMoines, IA.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 15 at 1:00pm at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church, 700 Balearic Road, HSV.
