Harold Gene Shelton, age 90, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at his home while surrounded by his loved ones. A Graveside Service will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 10th, at the Bonner Springs Cemetery, Bonner Springs, Kansas.

Gene was born on March 19, 1935, in Ozark, Missouri, to Wayne & Huba (Youngblood) Shelton. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed Deer Hunting and Fishing with his friends. Gene also enjoyed feeding the birds at his home. He retired after a lengthy career at Yellow Freight. Gene was a devoted and loving Husband, a perfect Father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a strong man and was respected by all who knew him. Gene enjoyed taking care of everyone. He was a very kind and generous man, always putting others before himself.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Christopher Shelton, his grandson Marshall Beatty, and his sister Rosie Hyde (Jim).

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bette Shelton of the home, four daughters: Penny Mynster (Richard) of Louisburg, KS., Pamela Shelton of Richmond, MO, Phyliss Beatty of Richmond, MO., and Patty Ponder (Don) of Easton, Kansas. His sister Carol Hale (Jim) of Sparta, MO., seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
