Gene A. Smith of Cuba, Missouri was born on September 28, 1937, in Gillespie, Illinois to John A. and Odelia G. (Heppermann) Smith. He left this life on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Big Bend Woods Heath Care in Valley Park, Missouri at the age of 86.
Gene was united in marriage to Beverly A. Larkin on November 25, 1972, in Cuba, Missouri. After Beverly’s death in 1996, he would later marry Dolores Eickelmann.
Gene was a retired meat cutter for Dierbergs Markets in St. Louis for several years and a member of UFCW Local 88. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed farming, deer hunting, fishing and camping.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents John A. and Odelia G. (Heppermann) Smith; two wives Beverly A. (Larkin) Smith and Dolores (Miller) Eickelmann; and two brothers Eldon and Gary Smith.
Those who are left to treasure his memory are his two sons Kevin Skidmore and Kenneth (Karen) Skidmore all of High Ridge; five grandchildren Alecia (Tim) Johannes-Rhodes of Oakville, Misty (Eric) Woolley of Sullivan, Jeffrey Penfold of Carrollton, Texas, Briana (Andrew) Kaup-Breeden of High Ridge, and Ryan Limberg of Leasburg; eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Holman, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
