Gene Allen Smith, Jr., 62, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2025.

Born on September 6, 1963, in Natchez, Mississippi, Gene was the son of Gene Allen Smith, Sr., and Amelia Smith. A hardworking and proud small-business owner, Gene owned and operated Lone Star Heating & Air Conditioning, where he served customers with honesty, skill, and a servant's heart.

Generous by nature, Gene gave freely to everyone he met. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, cutting wood, and building a good fire. He cherished time spent with family and friends. Full of life and always ready with a joke, he also enjoyed the theater and possessed a wonderful tenor voice.

Gene is survived by his sister, Darlene Tolbert, and her husband, Clyde; stepmother, Susie Smith; stepbrother, Jake Reeves; and his beloved girlfriend, Heidi.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Texas Health Harris Hospital for their wonderful care.

Services will be held at a later date.

We are so sorry to hear of Gene´s passing. Although we weren´t in touch with him recently, we have fond memories. We enjoyed chatting and laughing with him. Every time he came to the house to service the AC unit, we gave him a tall glass of water. He loved our well water and always commented how good the water tasted. Rest in peace dear friend. You are missed.
