Gene Gene Venable

 Gene's life was a tapestry woven with threads of service and dedication. He proudly served his country in the Navy and later transitioned into a fruitful civilian life where his impact would be felt far and wide. Gene's commitment to community involvement was unparalleled as he tirelessly served on the Golden Triangle F.C.U. Board, Groves Chamber of Commerce as an Honorary Board Member, Groves Pecan Festival committee, Groves City Council, and the Jefferson County Pony League. He also devoted his time and wisdom as a Deacon at Woodcrest Baptist Church, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and compassion.
 
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gene had a vibrant personality that shone through his love for cruises, enjoyment of time spent with his grandchildren, passion for westerns, and unwavering devotion to football.
 
In Gene's circle of family and friends left behind to cherish his memory are his dear wife, Barbara Venable; daughters Carleen Digiovanni of Groves, Darlene Licatino (Robert) of Bridge City, Karen Venable (Lynn Melancon) of Hemphill; son Brent Venable (Elizabeth) of Groves; grandchildren Brandon Licatino, Shaun Licatino, Dustin Collins, Lyndsay Moody, Paige Digiovanni, Mallory Wenzler, Chance Venable,and Megan Venable; great-grandchildren Damien Collins, Jeremiah Collins, Jasmine Collins, Aiden Hammond, Gage Hammond, Noah Hammond.  Also his siblings Lucy Manley and A.B. Venable; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Gene is now reunited with his parents Edwin Joseph and Anna Venable; brothers Joe Graham, Newton Graham, James Venable,Obrey Venable; sister Wilma Beresford; as well as son-in-law Randy Digiovanni.
 
A visitation will be held on April 14th from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at 5601 39th St in Groves followed by a Memorial Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. These services will provide an opportunity for those who knew Gene to come together in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived.
 
Gene Venable's legacy will endure through the memories he created with those around him and the impact he had on the communities he so dearly cherished. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
