Geneva Ann Hatcher, 81 of Norfolk, Virginia and former long-time resident of LaRue, died Tuesday February 14, 2023 at the Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk.
Geneva was born September 7, 1941 to the late Homer M. and Mona Gertrude (Moore) Huntley, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Huntley, Virginia Moore, Caroline Jones, Betty French and Patricia Crager.
She was born and raised in LaRue. Geneva worked most of her life at Imperial Cup in Kenton, and she spent her later years working at Meijer. She was a lifelong child of Jesus Christ. Her son Mark was present at her bedside reading scripture and praying as she went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She spent her retirement years at Kiwanis Village in LaRue. She enjoyed visiting friends and assisting those who needed help. Geneva enjoyed many conversations that brought about laughter and joy. She valued her relationship with her church family, the LaRue Baptist Church. When her health began to decline, she spent the remainder of her life with her son and his family in Norfolk, Virginia.
Surviving is her son Mark (Teri) Hatcher of Norfolk, Virginia and their sons, Austin M. and Ashe A. Hatcher
Also surviving are many extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 22, 2023 at 12 noon at the LaRue Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Pasma will officiate. Burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the church.
