Geneva Mary Martinez, 88, of Sacramento, CA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born in Sugar City, Colorado, to Edward and Celia Chavez. The eldest of six siblings: Lola (deceased), Flora -deceased (Ron), Johnny – deceased (Gloria), Edward (deceased), Lloyd, and Greg (deceased).
Geneva was devoted to her family and her faith, known for her passion for cooking, listening to music and spending time with loved ones. Preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Edmundo Martinez, and her son, Manuel.
Geneva is survived by five of six children: Faith (Norberto), Rita, Connie (Jose-deceased), Guadalupe, and Michelle. Geneva was a proud grandmother to Urbano Jr. (Anita), Dannielle, Susie (Chris), Brandie (deceased), Amanda, Angel, Edmund, McKayla, and Ivan. Geneva was also a cherished great-grandmother to Urbano III, Alexis (deceased), Marcus, Geneva, Erica, and Charlie. Geneva leaves behind many beloved family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., and graveside interment at 12:00 p.m. A reception to celebrate Geneva's life will follow.
