Geneva Colleen (Moore) West Willborn was released from earthly duties to join Jesus and family and friends on August 6, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview, Texas
A visitation will be held Monday prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas.
She was born on October 25, 1931, at her home in the country outside of Tell, Texas to Frances and Fayet Moore, the last of seven children. According to her older sister, the doctor brought her in his little black bag. Her Papa said that was the day she "discovered America". She resided in Childress, Texas and graduated Valedictorian from Childress High School in 1950. She met and fell in love with Charles West just prior to graduating high school. They married on September 3, 1950, and spent their 42 years of marriage in the Plainview area until his passing in 1993. They had three children, Tommie, Jimmie, and Frances who all attended Plainview schools. She married Richard Willborn in 2001 and cared for Richard and his father until they both passed away in 2008. She was a dedicated caregiver to her first mother-in-law, both husbands, and her father-in-law.
When her youngest child started school, Colleen took a job with the Plainview School System cafeterias so her schedule would coincide with her kids. She spent 29 years feeding schoolchildren and spreading her smile to each one of them. She was an excellent cook and fed many neighbor kids as they "happened by" at dinnertime. No matter how hard times were, she always made sure her family was fed. She also volunteered as Den Mother for the local Boy Scout Den and taught Sunday School classes. She loved staying busy gardening, canning, freezing, making jelly and sewing. She loved jewelry, dolls, and loved any color as long as it was red. Her happy demeanor spread to others, and she was an excellent role model of how to be a mom, a wife, a manager, and a friend. Colleen loved God and spread His love with a smile and a kind word for everyone she saw. She did her best to encourage and uplift others. She was an awesome grandmother and great- grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles West, husband Richard Willborn and grandsons Mark West and Matthew West. She is survived by her son Tommie West (Mary), Michael (Lindsay), Parker and Jaxson, Mitchell and Oliver, son Jimmie West (Mary Alice), Melissa Hudman (Joe), Zoe and Zayla, Brian (Simone), and daughter Frances Coulson (Matt), Benjamin (Shelby), and Jack.
