It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gennaro DeMarco (Jerry) a beloved husband, father, and friend who departed this life on October 9, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born in Altomonte Italy, Jerry carried with him the warmth, strength, and spirit of his homeland when he moved to Chicago in pursuit of opportunity and to support his family during his father’s illness. With dedication and resilience, he built a new life in a new country – a life that was defined by love, hard work and generosity.
In Chicago, Jerry met the love of his life, Nancy Joyce, and together they turned a shared dream into reality by opening their own restaurant. More than just a place to eat Ristorante DeMarco’s became a second home to many – filled with laughter, rich conversation, and unforgettable meals. For Jerry, food was a way to bring people together, and nothing brought him more joy than sharing a table with friends and family.
Outside of the restaurant, Jerry found peace and joy on the golf course. He cherished the quiet rhythm of the game and the opportunity to spend more time on the course with his friends.
Above all, Jerry will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his unwavering friendship, and the way he made everyone feel welcome – whether in his home, his restaurant or simply in his presence.
Jerry was born on September 14, 1953, in Altomonte, Italy to Vincenzo and Gemma Demarco.
Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy DeMarco (Joyce); and sons: Michael DeMarco, Gianluca DeMarco (Andrea Goy), and Jerry (Nikki) DeMarco.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Vincenzo (Vince) DeMarco and Gemma Iannuzzi. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Nuccia Demarco Somma, and Assunata Demarco Pancaro.
He is a loving brother to Michael DeMarco (Maria), Maria DeMarco Vitale, Rita Demarco Pignataro (Fernando) and Roseanna DeMarco Pancaro (Mario) and Daniela DeMarco Pignataro (Fraco). He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Sunday October 12, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle IL 60172.
Jerry lived a life full of heart – and the legacy he leaves behind is one of warmth, kindness, and joy of a shared meal.
