Genowefa "Jane" Frey, a beloved nurse and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Port Jefferson, New York. Born on January 5, 1950, in Germany, she brought warmth and kindness to all those who crossed her path, leaving an indelible mark on her family, friends, and community.
Jane dedicated her life to a career in nursing at Central Suffolk Hospital, where she was known for her compassionate care and unwavering commitment to her patients. Her nurturing spirit and profound empathy made her a beacon of hope in the medical field. She was admired not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her ability to touch the hearts of those around her.
Jane's love for her family was boundless. She is survived by her son, Damieon Frey, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Frey. She adored her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren: Lorin, Julian, and Alicia Marcella Frey, who brought her immense joy and pride. Jane also leaves behind her brothers, Walter Figurney and John Figurney, and her sister, Margie Bodkin, who supported her with love throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Figurney, her mother, Klima, her husband, Harry Frey, her son, Marcel Frey, and her sister, Mary Gatz. The loss of these cherished family members influenced Jane’s resilient spirit and deep appreciation for life's fleeting moments.
Jane will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and love will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched. As we remember Jane, let us carry forward her spirit of caring and her dedication to family, honoring her memory in our hearts forever.
