Geoff Barton Pratt

Geoffrey Barton Pratt, of Thoreau New Mexico, died in Albuquerque after a brief illness, he was 71 years old.

He was born in Bakersfield Ca. to Arthur and Arline Pratt, and attended local schools. After graduation he went to work for ARB INC, a pipeline company started by his grandfather Leslie Pratt, where he worked his way from dispatcher to Vice President. He ran the first horizontal boring project under the Amazon River. He worked all over South America, Trinidad and Tobago and India for ARB. Inc.

After retirement, He moved to Thoreau New Mexico, where along with his son Clayton Pratt and his friend Darrell Frazier, started the Pratt Ranch in Thoreau Mexico. Geoff loved the ranching life and made many new friends. A special thank you for friend and ranching mentor, Alex Mestas of Colorado.

Geoff enjoyed many hobbies from photography, to fishing and hunting. He was able to conserve and develop the elk herds that were found on the ranch under the guidance of the Department of Fish and Game.

Geoff is survived by his daughter Jenay and two granddaughters, along with his brother Greg Pratt(Dana) and nieces Heather Genrich and Adia Fenn, nephews Chris(Sheri) and Jon Pratt and 4 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Clayton and parents Art and Arline Pratt.

A brief gravesite service with be held July 6th 2024 at 11:00a.m. at The Arroyo Grande Cemetery and a Celebration of life will be held at The Oceano Elks Lodge immediately following at 410 Air Park Drive in Oceano.
