George C. Amaru

George C. Amaru, 71, a resident of Swanzey and formerly of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully with the love of family by his side on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester.
He was born a son to the late Rosemarie (Dini) and Francis Amaru on June 19, 1952, in Winthrop, MA.
George enjoyed working for the Hinsdale Greyhound Park as their maintenance operator for 7 years until he retired in 2005. Prior, George worked for Hinsdale High School doing Environmental Services for 5 years.
Along with working, George was a very handyman or as most would say "Mr. Fix It." He loved watching movies, spending time with the grandkids, and going to family events.
Mr. Amaru is survived by his three children, George Amaru and wife, Wynona of Keene, Anthony M. Amaru of Hinsdale, and Dominick M. Amaru of Hinsdale, two siblings, Terri DePalma of East Boston, MA. and Frank Amaru and wife, Lynn of TN. He is also survived by four Grandchildren, Orin Amaru, Dylan Amaru, Malachi Amaru, and Rosie Amaru, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. George is predeceased by his parents, and his four siblings, Francis "Joe" Amaru, Marie Massey, James Amaru, and Thomas Amaru.
