George Albert Aycock, 79, a resident of Pearl, MS passed away peacefully on Sun. July 14, 2024, after a valiant 4-year fight against cancer. Visitation will be held on George's 80th birthday, Sun. Aug. 18, 2024, from 1pm-2pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A Celebration Of Life service officiated by Rev. Reggie Kirkman will be held at 2pm on Sun. Aug. 18, 2024, at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Aycock was born on Aug. 18, 1944, in Louisville, MS to the late Charles B. Aycock and Tennie Shepherd Aycock. After graduating from MS State University, he served in the United States Air Force for 7 years during the Vietnam War. He returned home with a wife, Claudia Aycock and 2 children, Joanna A. Wade and Steven Aycock followed by Keli A. Laughlin and began a long career in banking with RCB and Trustmark.

George married his current wife and soulmate, Cindy Parker Baria Aycock in 1986 and added 2 more children to the mix, Vince Baria and Bonnie Baria Hall. Ultimately, George became “Jabbet” or “Grandpa George” to 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren whom he adored! Because of his love of life and “corny jokes” he was equally loved by them all, as well as many precious nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his sister, Charlyne A. Demos; his brother, Wayne Aycock; his mother and father-in-law, Mary Lou and TJ Parker and his beloved dog, Penny. He is survived by his brother, Dr. Larry Aycock (Deborah); sisters-in-law, Elaine Aycock, Pam Kirkman (Reggie) and a brother-in-law, Ted Parker (Rhonda).

George was an active member of Lea Joyner Methodist Church in Monroe prior to moving to Jackson, MS, but he and Cindy continued to love the church and the relationships that were established there. George was an avid golfer, a huge fan of MS State, the New Orleans Saints and LSU (at least he said that for the benefit of his “bride” as he often called Cindy).

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Bobby Graham, Dr. John Adams, Dr. Charles Morgan, Dr. Paul Murphy, Dr. Clark Henegan, Dr. Tommy Parker and Dr. James Underwood and the nurses and staff at Traditions Hospice for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mississippi Toughest Kids-Camp Kamassa at 123 E. Georgetown St. Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
