Harless Othell Guthrie, a devoted father, skilled craftsman, and lover of the outdoors, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on March 20, 1944, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Harless lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a passion for the simple joys of nature.

Known for his remarkable ability to fix things and his proficiency with his hands, Harless found fulfillment in nurturing his garden, casting lines to fish, and tending his grill with the care and precision that he applied to all aspects of his life. His love for the outdoors and meticulous attention to his flowers brought him peace and connection to the world around him. As a hard worker, Harless consistently provided for his family, embodying the role of a great dad who offered unwavering support and guidance.

Harless is survived by his beloved children: Johnny, Delayne, Tim, Jayson, and Jennifer Smith; his sister Tiny Guthrie; his brothers Donald, Gary, and Phillip Guthrie; and numerous cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Jaco; his parents, Gaines and Cora Guthrie; his brother Kenneth Guthrie; his sister Willa Merle; and his grandchild, Torrey Bell.

Visitation will be held on March 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon, Mississippi, located at 1360 W Government Street. A funeral service will follow on the same day from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
