George F. Babcock, age 65, passed away early Thursday morning, October 13, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region. While his passing was unexpected, we are comforted that he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. The son of the late Carl A., Sr. and Geraldine C. (Rettelle) Babock, he was born on November 10, 1956 in Bay City. George graduated from T.L. Handy High School and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a truck driver for many years. A member of Corpus Christi Parish, George was a devout Christian and had an unconditional love of the Lord Jesus Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and searching for the elusive Bigfoot. He has always been a true family man. George was his daughters' greatest fan. He enthusiastically cheered them on for many years as they excelled at sports and made sure that they were at the top of their game through his encouragement and help. George was a natural caretaker for friends, family and most importantly his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He was always at their school activities, driving them wherever they needed to be, taking them fishing, and just being the ultimate "Papa".
On January 26, 1980, George was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Molly J. Hartson. She survives his passing along with their two daughters, Whitney (Scott) Oswald of Bay City and Page (Sean) Deegan of Clinton Twp.; five grandchildren, Kyla, Delanie and Jameson Deegan and Corbin and Remi Oswald; two sisters, Carla Keaner of Saginaw and Geraldine (Richard) Veitengruber of Las Vegas; a brother, Craig (Diane) Babcock of Pinconning; a sister-in-law, Kimberlee (Stanley) Fork; a brother-in-law, John (Patricia) Hartson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl A. Babcock, Jr.; his father and mother-in-law, Lionel and Maybelle Hartson; and a sister-in-law, Karen (Michael) Worden.
Thank you to the McLaren Bay Region Emergency Room, 6 East, 6 West, Inpatient Rehab Unit staff who went above and beyond for George and his family.
The Funeral Mass will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Corpus Christi Parish – Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Robert Kelm presiding. Private interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Visitation will be at Trahan Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Corpus Christi Parish or St. Vincent de Paul Society. I am so sad to hear of George's passing. He was one of my favorite people and did a wonderful job coaching his daughters and all of their teammates at the little league fields. My sincere condolences to Molly and the girls for the loss of George. Gone too soon!

Molly, Page, Whitney,
I'm so sorry for your loss. George was a very good friend of mine while working at Bay Valley Plastic Bag. He was so nice to me. He would always talk about his girls and what they were in to. You all were the love of his life. While my heart breaks for you all it is also happy that he is with the Lord. He was a good man.

Molly, Whitney, and Page - we are so very sorry for your loss. While we haven't crossed paths since you moved from St. Boniface to Holy Trinity, we have good memories of all of you and George. George was always upbeat despite his physical limitations. Prayers for comfort and peace.

As an Usher for Corpus Christi Parish, I could always count on George and Molly to be at the 8:30am Mass. George was always friendly and cheerful even though he always wore a back brace and depended heavily on his cane to get around. Yet, he was there, praying and giving thanks to God. It was something I had a great respect for and will miss seeing him there. My condolences to family and friends. Mark Emge
