Alice J. Emmrich (LaBrenz)

Bay City, Michigan

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Sheffield Bay. Alice was born on October 10, 1947, in Bay City, the daughter of the late Herman and Grace (Grigg) LaBrenz.

She was a 1965 graduate of Bay City Central High School and later attended Delta College. Alice dedicated her career to helping others, retiring in 2002 as a social worker for the State of Michigan.

On June 3, 1967, she was united in marriage to David P. Emmrich at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and he survives her. Together they shared 58 years of love and devotion.

A woman of faith, Alice was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Church, where she generously gave her time volunteering at funeral luncheons.

Alice had many interests that enriched her life. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, quilting, genealogy, dancing, playing cards, and tending to her flowers. She especially loved growing orchids and also appreciated the occasional casino trip.

Surviving besides her husband, David, are their children: Steven (Sherry) Emmrich and Deann (Jeff) Reeve; her grandchildren: Nathan (Allissa) Emmrich, Erin (Brendan) Ehrhart, Grant Reeve, and Jack Reeve; and her great-grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Samuel, and Oliver. Also surviving are her siblings: Donald (Emily) LaBrenz, Marion Shillair, and Pearl Bli.

She was preceded in death by her in-laws: Joseph Shillair, Jim Bli, and Nancy (Leonard) Page.

Alice will be remembered for her kind spirit, her devotion to family and friends, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

The Funeral Mass for Alice will be celebrated Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Nicholas Coffaro will celebrate Mass and interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City, MI 48708 on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and again at church on Tuesday after 9:00 AM.
