George Montgomery Bannar, Jr., a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 81 in Paoli, PA. Born on July 7, 1944, in Darby, PA, George lived a full and vibrant life marked by his loving nature, kind spirit, and lively personality.

George was the devoted husband to his wife, Shirley B. Bannar (nee Coll), and a proud father to his children, Steven Bannar and George M. Bannar III. He was a beloved brother to Lois Francis and Thomas Bannar, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Professionally, George began his career with National Airlines at Philadelphia International Airport. During that time, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent a year serving in the Infantry in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned briefly to National Airlines before joining Airborne Express, where he served for many years as a District Manager. Before retiring, George worked with Forward Air Freight as a Terminal Manager, leaving a lasting impact on the company and his colleagues.

George's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid golfer, finding joy and camaraderie on the greens. His love for the casino and his card club were well-known, as he enjoyed the thrill of the game and the company of his fellow players. In his youth, George was an accomplished wrestler, achieving the title of number 2 in the entire state of Pennsylvania during his high school years.

Travel was another of George's joys, having explored two-thirds of the United States with his beloved Shirley. Their adventures together created a tapestry of memories that will be treasured forever. George also found solace and pleasure at his mountain house in the Poconos, a place that provided him with peace and a connection to nature.

George was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in West Chester, where his faith and fellowship played a meaningful role in his life and connection to the community.

George's legacy is one of love, kindness, and spirit. He approached life with enthusiasm and an open heart, qualities that endeared him to many. His laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
