George Batista, age 82 of Rocky Mount, VA, passed away on November 27, 2022. George was born in Taunton, the son of the late John J. and Mary (Texeira) Batista. He was the beloved husband of Dianne (Bearce) Batista for over 37 years.
Mr. Batista was a self-employed, successful business owner for 60 years. He enjoyed classic cars, flea markets, spending time with his dogs and bird watching.
Besides his beloved wife Dianne, he is survived by his loving children; Babette (Batista) Lee, Deborah Batista, stepdaughter Rosemary Martinez and stepsons Joseph Martinez, Stephen Martinez and Michael Machowski. He was the grandfather of John Lee, Camron Lee, Leo Rivera, Mia Perry, Mason Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Jolie Martinez, Melinda Martinez, Jessica Martinez, Stephen A. Martinez and Brianna Machowski.
George was predeceased by his siblings Dorothy (Silvia) Pacheco, Edith (Silvia) Flint, Mary (Silvia) Flint, Alice (Silvia) Souza, Rose (Silvia) Brophy, Antone Silvia Jr., Joseph Silvia and Madeline (Silvia) Pacheco. He is survived by siblings Sarah Silvia and Marilyn (Silvia) Smith.
A grave-side service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 1pm in Saint Joseph Cemetery 475 East Britannia Street, Taunton MA 02780.
Relatives and friends may assemble at the front gate of the cemetery at 12:30pm.
Arrangements are with the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton.
