George Blackmore
February 8, 1956 - May 19, 2025
Rev. George Arthur Blackmore, Jr., 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning, May 19, 2025, at his home in Hays, NC. It was sudden, unexpected, and a shock to his entire family. He simply fell asleep and woke up in his Father's arms. The family he loved so much is left behind to grieve this loss. He was a dedicated and supportive husband to Kathy, a loving father to Sheri, Steve, Erin and Brian, and the best Pop-Pop to three amazing grandkids. He was a follower of Christ, a gifted communicator, a hard worker, and a prayer warrior.
His sense of humor, optimistic outlook, and true love for life will be missed. Please share stories, pictures, or your favorite "George joke" here or in person. We invite you to join us to celebrate his life and his graduation to Heaven.
Rev. Blackmore had a Masters Degree in Church Administration and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Millers Creek. He was a Baptist Minister and a wedding officiant at Lovelace Creek and many other places for weddings and events. He also worked as a loan officer with Longbridge Financial. George loved people and enjoyed making them laugh. He was an avid reader, loved music of all kinds, especially worship music and hymns, and he adored and cherished his entire family.
There will be a viewing and visitation on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lady's Funeral Home, 268 N Cannon Blvd. Kannapolis, NC 28083.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Harvest Community Church, 4284 Orphanage Rd. Concord, NC 28027. He will lie In-State from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
No need to wear black (unless you want). Even though this is a sad occasion, we hope the service will be like he was in life, full of love, joy and laughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you share your support to his favorite causes:
