George Michael Boland, age 89, of Middlebury Center, PA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Bradford Hills in Troy, PA. He was born on March 19, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a young child, where he was raised by his loving parents, Michael and Nellie Boland (both deceased). He was predeceased by his younger brother, John Boland.
George shared 67 devoted years of marriage with his wife, Joan (Hoffman) Boland. Together they raised five children-George (Sandy) Boland, Jr., Kate (Dan) D'Angelo, Ken (Lisa) Boland, Brian (Lisa) Boland, and Lisa (Scott) Obringer-instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and family. He was a proud grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and a great-grandfather to nineteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his life and carried on his legacy.
A hardworking and skilled man, George was a partner with his brother John in Boland Brothers Service Station at Oxford and Griscom Avenue in Philadelphia for 26 years. After selling the business, he continued his career as a Service Manager at Foster Toyota and Meehan Transmission.
George and Joan began raising their family on Bridge Street in Philadelphia before moving to Over Road in Feasterville, PA, where they lived for 37 years. In retirement, George fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to the mountains of Tioga County, PA, a place he cherished deeply.
George had a passion for building cars and was an avid stock car and drag racing enthusiast. Known as "Mr. Fix-It," he was always lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. A devoted outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren those same skills. He was also a proud member of the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club. George attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wellsboro, PA and was a member of Assumption BVM in Feasterville, PA.
George had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs who were always by his side. His bond with his beloved Bella was especially strong – she was his constant companion, his shadow, and a source of great comfort and joy in his later years.
George's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and selflessness. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to family, community, and craftsmanship that will live on through all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Bradford Hills 15900 Route 6 Troy, PA 16947. Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA is assisting the family. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
