George M. Bozosi, 87, of Tamaqua, passed away peacefully on Friday as a guest of Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.
Born Saturday, March 7, 1936, in Hazleton, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Yassnko) Bozosi.
George was also predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Yursha and Mary Hollman; and brother, Joseph Bozosi.
Surviving are his son, David J. Bozosi and his fiancée, Barbara Stanton, Clearwater, Fla.; daughters, Suzie Larson, Tacoma Wash.; and Cynthia Racho, Wilkes-Barre; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his companion of more than 45 years, Gladys Bates and her extended family; and former wife, Sylvia Gillott.
A star football player and graduate of Hazleton High School Class of 1953, George served his country honorably during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army. He retired from General Foam of Hazleton, and was a member of St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua. An avid sports fan, George enjoyed following Penn State Football, the Philadelphia Eagles, watching baseball, and the Indy circuit.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, 570-668-2550.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on at 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. John XXIII R.C. Church, 307 Pine St. Tamaqua. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment with military honors bestowed will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua.
Memorials in his name may be sent to Disabled American Veteran, 1123 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
