George Robert Burnham, a deeply respected member of the Forest, Mississippi, community, passed away on November 22, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born on April 29, 1951, in Pelehatchie, Mississippi. George lived a life marked by dedication, love, and a strong work ethic, working as a welder throughout his career.
George was a devoted husband to Wanda Rogers Burnham for 56 cherished years. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love, laughter, and support. He was a proud father to his son, Robert Burnham, and his late daughter, Bessie Mae Taylor. George's family also included his beloved siblings: his sister, Mary Ables (Clyde), and his brothers, Hayes Burnham and Charlie Burnham (Laura), with whom he shared countless memories and adventures.
His faith played a significant role in his life; he found peace and purpose in his Baptist beliefs, which guided him through both joyous and challenging times. In addition to his commitment to his family and faith, George enjoyed riding horses, hunting, fishing, and working in his various shops. He had a particular fondness for watching western movies, embracing the stories that echoed his spirit.
George's legacy will continue to be felt by those who knew him. His presence brought warmth to those around him, and he will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulis Burnham and Bessie Broome, and his daughter, Bessie Mae Taylor. They will always be held in the memories and hearts of his family.
Visitation will be held at Steele Baptist Church in Forest, MS, on November 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Services will follow beginning at 3:00 PM. George Robert Burnham's life will be celebrated as his family and friends come together to honor a man whose legacy of love, faith, and commitment will endure in their hearts forever.
