George R. Coder, age 87, of Lancaster, passed away on October 18, 2025, at Ephrata Manor.

He was the beloved husband of Edwina H. Coder; together, they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster in 1937, he was the son of the late James R. and Jeanne P. Coder.

George was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster. He dedicated over 50 years to his career as a chiropractor.

He was a proud graduate of Lancaster Country Day School (Class of 1955)  and Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Class of 1965) as well as attending Franklin and Marshall College in 1962.

Throughout his life, George held leadership roles in several organizations, including serving as president of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society (1982), president of the Lancaster Aero Club (1968), and Commander of the Lancaster Power Squadron (1989). He was also a member of the Baltimore Yacht Club (Honorary Commodore and secretary for many years).

A veteran, Dr. Coder served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. He loved boating and could be found on his boat, Sea Wings, on the Chesapeake Bay.

His four sons survive him: Dr. G. Robert Coder; Darren Coder and wife Tracy; Brian Coder and wife Beth; and Christopher Coder and wife Jody, all of Lancaster. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Rebecca Capitao (Tristen), Tyler Coder (Rachel), Brandon Coder, and Logan Coder.
