Mr. George Compton, age 77 of Flowery Branch, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home, surrounded by family.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Mount Salem Baptist Church. Pastor Al Soliven and Pastor Tim Hunter will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mr. Compton was born March 18, 1947 to the late Joseph Shelton Compton and Lucy Mae Hunt Compton in Atlanta. He was a long standing Deacon and active member of Mount Salem Baptist Church and retired from The Georgia Department of Transportation. Throughout his life he was an avid bowler and is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Thomas Compton; sons, Gary & Dawn Compton and Kevin & Tasha Compton; grandchildren, Chris & Lauren Compton, Tyler & Diana Henderson, Zach Henderson, Taylor & Dylan Cagle, Kaylie Henderson and Brandt Henderson; great-grandchildren, Chesney Compton, Presley Compton, Luna Henderson, Avery Henderson, Malachi Henderson, Emory Newton, Hadley Compton, Charli Henderson and Lucy Cagle; siblings, Calvin & Linda Martin, Margaret Smith, James & Vivian Gravitt, Linda Turk, Jim & Sandra Ski, and Jim & Diane Thomas; and several nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 6152 Mount Salem Circle, Flowery Branch, Georgia 30542
