George Corbey, age 92 of St. Paul, went to be with the Lord September 9, 2025. George loved our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He is the son of Joseph and Mary Corbey, who immigrated from Aitou, Lebanon. George had seven siblings: Bernice, Lucille, John, Genevieve, Celia, Agnes, and Catherine. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane Tomsche, also of St. Paul, in 1955.
George was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1954. He graduated from business college and proceeded to work for Midway Finance Company. Thereafter, he became a restauranteur.
He was very active in parish ministries from the inception of Holy Childhood. He was on the finance committee to build the new church. He even attended the first-ever eighth grade class at the newly formed school.
George was an honest and humble man, a pleasure to be with. He was quick with a joke and always ready to help out his family and friends. Probably, without a doubt, one of the all-time greats!
He was preceded in death by beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Jane.
He is survived by his sister, Catherine Green; four sons, Thomas (wife Ronelle), Gary, Daniel, and Robert; grandchildren Joseph, Daniel, and Jordan; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation 9:00 - 10:00 am Thursday, September 18 at the Church of the Holy Childhood, 1435 Midway Pkwy., St. Paul followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. A luncheon will follow Mass.
Private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
“ ‘And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.’ Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22: 12-14
