BEVERLY – Mr. George Dassuk Jr., 59, of Beverly died peacefully, January 2nd, 2026 at Beverly Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Roseanne (Raymond) Dassuk. As a kid growing up, he was the instigator and troublemaker. In his heart and actions, he was truly a protector and stood up for his sister and friends when they were in need. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem High School. He was due to graduate with the class of 1984, but dropped out, got his G.E.D. and joined the United States Army.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1984 until his honorable discharge. He was very proud of his service to his country.
A craftsman at heart, George returned home from his service to his country and held many different jobs. A long-time construction laborer, he worked for the Welch Construction Company and Paradise Construction Company. He was a talented mason, often taking on independent projects building brick staircases and repairing structures. He was a hard worker whose exceptional strength made him highly sought after in the industry.
In his 30s, Mr. Dassuk was pursuing a business degree when he underwent surgery on a disc in his neck. Two weeks later, he suffered a major stroke that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. George spent the next 11 ½ years in nursing care, following the devoted care given to him by his loving mother. His care was later overseen by his sister, with the help of his dear cousins David and Joyce Dallaire, to whom the family is eternally grateful.
George grew up fishing on his Uncle Peter’s boat, and his love of the sport carried into adulthood. He was an avid surfcaster who spent much of his time at Winter Island, where he enjoyed meeting people. He was also a dedicated member of the YMCA, spending many hours working out and tending to his physical fitness.
George is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Darlene Pingree and her husband Christopher James of Charlestown, NH, his devoted and dear nieces, Laura Ashley and Kayla Elizabeth Pingree and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his Paternal grandparents, John and Anna (Waskowski) Dassuk, formerly of Peabody, his maternal grandparents, Hector and Evelyn (Howard) Raymond of Salem and his uncle, John Dassuk who entered eternal rest a day after George on January 3rd, 2026.
