SALEM – Mr. David “Bingo” Marshall, 73, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Ring) Marshall, died following a brief illness at Salem Hospital.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Robert Marshall and Sylvia (Prescod) (Marshall) Burroughs. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1970. While in high school, David excelled athletically as a member and captain of the Witches Varsity Basketball team.

Following high school graduation, Mr. Marshall joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. He was always proud of his service to his country as it had a lifelong impact on his whole world.

Bingo had been employed for many years as a Truck Driver, most recently having been associated with Woods Trucking, until the time of his retirement.

A long-time resident of the city of Salem, Bingo was well known through the city of Salem and the North Shore for his friendly and out going nature. He was an avid motor cycler and made many lifelong friends while riding. He was a former member of the North Shore Marine Corps League and always supported his fellow marines. He was also a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Salem. Bingo was your friend in times of need.

An avid card player, he enjoyed afternoons spent at Encour, playing Texas Hold Em and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. He was an excellent pool player and truly loved a good time. He was always the center of attention and had an overabundance of friends. Musically inclined, a talent he got from his parents, Bingo was a saxophone player and would never turn down a Karaoke night with friends. He was often referred to as “Mustang Sally”, as he would often belt out the tune to anyone who would listen.

Above all else, family and friends always came first. He was devoted to his beloved wife Beth and a loyal friend and brother. He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love of his wife and family and his larger than life personality.

Bingo is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth (Ring) Marshall of Peabody, his sister, Brenda Marshall and her fiancé Manny DeMera of NY, NY, his brother, Paul S. Marshall and his wife, June of Salem, his many nieces and nephews, including, Vanessa and Meghan Marshall and Brook Beaulieu and his sisters-in-law, Page and Olga Ring. He was the brother of the late Robert "Bongo" Marshall Jr. and brother-in-law of the late Michael, Philip and Larry Ring.
