George Datto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Apr. 23, 2024.
George A. Datto passed away peacefully at home on April 21,
2024. He was 85 years old. Loving husband of Barbara E.
Datto. Beloved father of Dr. George Datto (Dr. Catherine
Datto), Dr. Michael Datto (Dr. Kathleen Caron), Dr. Suzanne
Datto (Dr. Louis Littman), and Dr. Jeffrey Datto (Jessica Datto).
Proud grandfather of Gregory, Angela, Nicholas, Sophia,
Nathaniel, Jessica Sophia, and Natalie Rose.
George graduated from the University of Scranton in 1960. He
was employed by the Department of HUD, office of the
Inspector General, as an auditor. He retired at age 74 after 54
years of government employment as the National Single
Coordinator for HUD. His long career was interrupted at the
beginning for two years while he served in the US Army. It
was a time he spoke of often with pride and fond memories.
When his oldest son George wanted to become a cub scout, a
leader was needed and George volunteered to be the
cubmaster. His leadership in scouting lasted for many years.
He served on the board for the Camden County District for
Scouting and was awarded the Silver Beaver.
George was truly a family man. He devoted his life to his
family: loving, supporting, encouraging and always trying to
help. He was a member of the Church of St. Mary for more
than 55 years, living a good Christian life.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday
April 26th from 9:45-10:45 AM at the Catholic Church of St.
Mary, 2001 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003. Mass of
Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow
at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2398 RT. 70 W., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
