George Edmund Delk, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on January 29, 2025 in Owasso, Oklahoma. He was born on November 10, 1937 in Stigler, Oklahoma to George Washington and Edith Leona Dobson Delk. George grew up in a nurturing environment and graduated from Skiatook High School in 1956, laying a foundation for a life filled with hard work and commitment to family.
On July 11, 1957 George married Janice Leora Luper in Sperry, Oklahoma and together they built a home in Skiatook where they raised their four children. Over the years, George was known not just for his dedication to his family but also for his strong work ethic. He was employed with Safeway for 29 years where he adeptly served as a warehouse manager, in addition to his work as a roofing contractor.
A man of many interests, George enjoyed fishing and loved spending time tinkering in his barn. His passion for old tractors and knives reflected his hands-on approach to life and his appreciation for craftsmanship.
George's legacy continues through his loving wife, Janice, and his four children: Dalon Vail, Janelle Forbes and husband Herb, Lynetta Doye and husband Dennis, and Jarrell Delk and wife Shelinda. He was also a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. George is survived by his sister, Allian Ragsdale, as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who cherished him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Edith Leona Delk; his brother, Kennith Delk; and three sisters, Juanita Hixson, Ziona Bolen, and RuthEtta Archer.
Funeral services will be held to honor George's life. Visitation with family will take place on February 7, 2025 at Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on February 8, 2025 at the First Baptist Church West Rogers Campus starting at 2:00 PM. George will be interred at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook on February 8, 2025.
As we remember George, we celebrate a life that was defined by unwavering love for family and friends, a strong work ethic, and passions that brought joy to his everyday life. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
