George L. Donovan

Donovan, George "Gipper" of Abington, former longtime resident of Weymouth, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on November 26, 2023.
George was born in Boston to the late Leo and Collette (Reddish) Donovan. He was a 1976 graduate of Weymouth North High School. George worked for 30 years for Federal Express, retiring as an operations manager. He was a longtime member of the Weymouth Sons of Italy, making many close friends there over the years. George enjoyed vacationing with his wife at the Frangipani Beach Resort in Anguilla, winters in Florida, fishing with his son, football Sundays, the men's softball league, dining out and in earlier years, high school baseball and basketball. George will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and being the life of the party. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of 32 years to Robin (Walker) Donovan of Abington. Loving father of Eric Fardig of Weymouth. Dear brother of Leo Donovan and his wife Nancy of Virginia, Paul Donovan and his wife Nancy of Abington, Dianne Reilly and her husband Tom of Hull, Collette Rajotte and her husband Tom of Abington and brother in law of Kimberly Jarred and her husband Bill. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his feline companion, Sasha.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, December 3, 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 11 AM Monday, December 4, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 12 PM. Private burial to be held at a later date.
