MORTON – George Douglas, 88, of Morton, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born on April 17, 1937, in Peoria, to John Owen and Ruth (Cunningham) Douglas. George married Rebecca "Becky" Embry on July 7, 1973, in East Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2022. George was also preceded in death by one son, Randy; sister, Nancy; and brother-in-law, Don Embry.

Surviving are his sons, Brad (Debbie) Douglas of Mackinaw and Neal (Erin) Douglas of Danvers, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashley, Tiffany (Paul), Reece, Lexy, Cole and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Carter and Kinzley; sisters, Rowena (Chuck) Altic; brothers-in-law, Dal (Yvonne) Embry, Jerry (Sharon) Embry and Terry Stone; and sisters-in-law, Juanita (Everett) McNeese and Arlene Greiner.

George was a 1955 graduate of East Peoria Community High School.

He was a United States veteran having served with the Naval Reserves and Construction Battalion Reserves (Seabees) from 1955 to 1963.

George hired into Caterpillar in 1955 as a mail room clerk. After 43 years of service, he retired in 1998 as a warranty analyst in service engineering.

He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing with his sons. George loved woodworking and was known for constructing birdhouses and sharing them with friends and family.

George and Becky enjoyed spending winters in Florida with family and traveling to various locations around the world.

George was a member of Grace Church in Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026, with Pastor Jonathan Farrell and Pastor Brad Habegger officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 11 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Groveland Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Grace Church in Morton.
