George Washington Dowdy was born February 22, 1944 in Forney Alabama to the late Daniel Harrison Dowdy and Lucille Gertrude Dowdy. He married Joy Derita Ashley in 1965 they were together till 2010 when "Ritter" was called home to be reunited with their son Johnny Ray Dowdy. He was a heavy equipment operator for Florida Rock till he retired in 1978 to become owner and operator of Dowdy and Son's tree service for many years till he retired in 1985. He is survived by his children Jeffrey(Robin) Dowdy, Toby Dowdy, Joe Paul Dowdy, Chad (Elizabeth)Dowdy, Tiffany(Chad)Clark along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. His memorial service will be held Saturday October 4th at 4PM Reverence Church 554 Harmony Road Silvercreek GA 30173.
