It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of George David Estep, who left us peacefully on December 5, 2025, at the age of 83, after an illness. Born on June 1, 1942, in the rolling hills of West Virginia, George brought warmth and joy to all who knew him, right up until his final moments in
Virginia Beach, Virginia.
George was a man whose spirit and energy touched the lives of many. A dedicated and hard-working individual, he spent his career as a Warehouse Worker at Walgreens. Outside of work, George's zest for life could be seen in everything he did-from meticulously maintaining his yard, which became the pride of his neighborhood, to his passionate support of his favorite sports teams: the West Virginia Mountaineers, Orlando Magic, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds, and Tampa Bay Lightning. He embraced his love for sports by playing basketball and cornhole with his children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories.
Marrying his interests with his vibrant personality, George had a special appreciation for the joy and wonder of Christmas. He was known for his dapper appearance, always smelling of Old Spice Swagger, and he enjoyed socializing, winning friends wherever he went. A fan of the refreshing taste of Pepsi and with a soft spot for red-headed women, George had an undeniable charm and warmth.
Although not religious, George was deeply spiritual, demonstrating gratitude towards a Higher Power through his actions and outlook on life. His greatest achievement, however, was the loving family he built. As the kind of father dreams are made of, George's presence as a doting dad was his proudest legacy. He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Ailca Estep (nee Ooten), his brother James, and three great-grandchildren.
George is survived by his beloved children Angela, Donna (Tracy), and David (Tiffany); grandchildren Jessi, Jamie, Joshua, Troy, Kaylee, Abigail, Alexis, and McKenzie; ten great-grandchildren; and his siblings Loretta, Dean, Gene, Linda, and Kathleen. His family will forever cherish the memories they share of their father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
A Celebration of George's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive,
Virginia Beach, Virginia. We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring this remarkable man who blessed our lives and enriched our hearts with his love, laughter, and enduring spirit.
As we say goodbye to George, we carry forward the lessons of kindness, joy, and devotion he taught us, forever cherishing the countless precious moments we shared.
