George A. Gorman Sr., age 84, beloved husband of Diana Gayle (Ryans) Gorman died on his birthday, Thursday, January 9, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Boston January 9, 1941 a son of the late George Gorman and Elizabeth (Mahoney) Gorman and was the grandson of the late William and Olive Mahoney who was his primary caregiver for most of George's childhood. He lived in Arlington before moving to Billerica 55 years ago.
George was employed as an Electronics Technician for Hayes Instruments in Billerica which he helped co-found in 1979.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and landscaping his home and was always known as a keen conversationalist with a wonderful sense of humor and wit.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, George A. Gorman Jr. and his wife Nicole of Stamford, CT and Steven J. Gorman of Billerica and his longtime partner Julie Ferreira of Tewksbury; one brother, Joseph Gorman of Billerica; one sister, Marilyn Pisco and her husband Joseph of Duxbury; his grandchildren, Cameran (his youngest) as well as Natalie, Peter, Louie and their mother Christina Casagrande and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.

I worked at Hayes Instruments with George for about thirty years. We spent many hours over many years trading ideas about personal issues, politics and gardening. I may have known more about him than even his family. He was a good friend. My God bless him.

I first met George the summer of 1984. We moved into our brand new neighborhood. He was a great man and friend. We could be outside and talk about everything. George rest in peace and we will meet again your friend. Rick Curtin
