George Franklin Haskins Jr.

George Franklin Haskins, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and lifelong lover of music and family, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 79. In his last moments at home, receiving his last rites he was surrounded by family and friends that became family, Tony Thomas and his wife Melissa.
He was born on July 29, 1945, in New York City to Evangeline Haskins (Enos) and George Franklin Haskins, Sr., and was the beloved husband of Lillian Escobar-Haskins, his best friend and partner for 53 wonderful years. Together, they built a family that was his pride and joy. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Sorina (Nick), Laura (Brad), Brandi (Vandal), and Jason (Lauren); and by his grandchildren: Faith, Jacob, Samantha, Aliyah, Dominic, Quincy, Ella, Alex, Adele, Luna, Carolyn Civil, and great-grandson, Valentino, all who brought him much joy in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Bradford Orin "Brady" Bookser II, whom he cherished dearly.
A man of great curiosity and intellect, George spent years preserving his familys history, researching nine generations of his diverse and blended family.
Music was his lifelong passion. His love of salsa and latin jazz, and his time as a professional piano player was pivotal throughout his life. He enjoyed the time he spent with his fellow bandmates and lifelong friends from his time in both New York and Pennsylvania.
George had a warm and generous spirit, and a talent for storytelling that he used to share stories about his life and family, and felt especially close to the cousins and extended family members he remained connected to his entire life.
He will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit lives on in each of us.
