George William Hobbs, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on July 25, 1932, in Blountville, Tennessee, George grew up on a farm alongside his five siblings, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the land.

George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, with distinguished tours in Vietnam and Japan. Following his military service, he transitioned to civilian life as a truck driver for eight years before joining Robins Air Force Base. There, he excelled in roles as a cable team leader and later as a Job Controller on the flight line, until his retirement.

In retirement, George found joy in the simple pleasures of life, frequently visiting the Huddle House on Russell Parkway. Known for his kindness, generosity, and ability to converse with anyone, George never met a stranger. His warm presence and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

George was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Maisie Hobbs, and his son, Ira Hobbs. He is survived by his loving sister, Marie Hobbs; his devoted son, Charles Hobbs Sr., and daughter-in-law, Vernice Hobbs; his grandchildren, Charles Hobbs II and Sherry Steele, along with her husband, Scott Steele; and his great-grandson, Ethan Steele.

George's life was a testament to service, family, and community. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2024, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, George William Hobbs will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
