He is survived by his daughters, Gail Conner (Larry) of Cedartown, and Dale Tatum (Rick) of Canton.
Ed was a proud and loving grandfather to Angie Conner, Jason Holcombe, Lisa Lawson (Keenan), Amanda Bailey (Wesley), and found great joy in his great grandchildren, Jenna Timms (Dakota), D. J. Conner (Emily), Joseph Bailey, Elizabeth Lawson, Bella Bailey and Thomas Lawson. He was also blessed with a precious great- great granddaughter Layna Timms, who brought him immense happiness and Lisa Mullins, his dedicated and faithful Caregiver.
Ed attended Blackwell Elementary where he met the love of his life, Betty. He later graduated from Marietta High School in 1947, where he earned the nickname "Bulldog" as a standout football player. A man of adventure, Ed and his friends were among the first to water ski on Allatoona Lake. Their skiing feats were legendary - often featuring Ed skiing atop a ladder supported by others, barefooting across the water and delighting crowds with their stunts. They were even invited to perform at Cypress Gardens, an offer they declined, choosing instead to ski and entertain on their beloved lake.
Ed also loved aviation and earned his private pilot's license in 1964 at McCollum Airport in Kennesaw, another testament to his adventurous spirit. By trade, Ed was a skilled brick mason, laying brick for many homes in the Piedmont Hills and Kingswood Subdivions in Marietta. In 1985, he took the role of Cobb County Building Inspections Manager, from which he later retired to enjoy more time with his family.
A man of deep faith, Ed was an active member of Greers Chapel Baptist Church in Kennesaw. He faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, Music Director, and caretaker of the church cemetery. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1965, a role he carried with humility and dedication.
Ed was faithful in visiting his Waffle House on Wade Green Road every morning for his pecan waffle. He grew so close to this staff and friends who showed him so much love. They were just like his other family.
