Pagenkopf Funeral HomeIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Charles Jones, who left this world unexpectedly on July 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on December 22, 1942, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, George was the son of Jacob and Cecelia Jones.
George was a skilled hunter (we loved venison) and fisherman, at least when he wasn't spending time untangling the fishing lines of his "darling children". George found joy later in life bird watching and the birds ate very well.
George enjoyed gambling and for many years he was on a bowling league with his brothers. If he was in his chair there was sure to be a game show or Western on. He loved to be in his garage. You could always find him there. He has repaired many cars, trucks, vans, heavy machinery and small engines to keep everyone up and running. There are many memories and conversations inside that 2 1/2 car garage. His love for cars and his skill in building them got mom her first ticket. Shhh.
George was sometimes a tough nut to crack but if he respected you, you were treated with kindness, love, support, generosity, dedication and probably a little sass. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and could strike up a conversation no matter where he went. He will be missed!
George married the love of his life, Carol Christopherson on December 21, 1963. He is further survived by his children Joyce Henning, Lisa Jones and Robert Jones; grandchildren Nicole (Brian) Wojczak, Heather (Jeff) Schiefelbein, Jessica Henning, Deidre Henning and Jacob (fiance Katrina) Wittenberg; great-grandchildren Jason, Aadin, Elliot, Liam, Bentley, Peyten, Rylan, Ronan and Cleo; brother Albert Jones; sister Zelma Carlson; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. George is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Joyce Jones, Leroy Jones and Thys Jones, Sr.
The family feels immense gratitude for the care and support provided by the Johnson Creek EMS and to the staff at Famous Footwear during this challenging time, your compassion did not go unnoticed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in George's name are welcome.
In honor of George's life and spirit, a celebration of life will take place for close family and friends on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 beginning at 1:00pm at the Mapleton Community Center located at N 87, W35493 Mapleton Rd, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin 53066.
