George Kasyan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Van Orsdel Funeral & Cremation Services - Coral Gables on Dec. 23, 2022.
Kasyan, George, age 76 went to be in the arms of Jesus, December 20, 2022. He lived in Miami for 49 years.
He was born in Paterson, New Jersey to James Ziggy (Jake) Kasyan and Mary Ann (nee Pierczyk) Kasyan June 20, 1946. As a small child, he and his family moved to Marlborough, Connecticut. He graduated from RHAM high School in Hebron, Connecticut and then Central Connecticut State College with Masters Degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Education. He taught at Bacon Academy and then his high school RHAM. In 1970 he married Linda (nee Lundelius) Kasyan. They relocated to Miami in 1973. He taught a year at Miami Killian High School and then 40 years at Ransom Everglades School. He dearly loved teaching in any capacity, encouraging critical thinking not just facts. He was famous for inspiring projects like rocket day week, build a motor that actually ran, infamous fire day, pin hole camera, cooking hot dogs by plugging it into an outlet, among others. He also led Bible classes at Wayside Baptist Church first to middle school boys and then 20 years to a men's class that systematically went through chapters of the Bible with discussion with critical thinking and application. His teaching style was always making people think. He was humble and always invested in the lives of people around him.
He loved travelling in our various campers and seeing the wonders of God's creation.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kasyan, two children, Pamela Ann (James R Howe) Kasyan-Howe James George (Meredith Hagedorn) Kasyan; four grandchildren, Jacob Mason Itzkowitz, Chase Tyler Itzkowitz, Aiden Scott Itzkowitz, Teagan Jude Howe and step grandson Tyler Howe; one brother Thomas (Pamela Thomas) Kasyan; cousins, Anthony Straska, John (Ann) Gorski, Fran Gorski (Larry Burr)
The funeral services will be held at Wayside Baptist Church, 7701 SW 98 Street, Miami FL 33156. Chapel West side of building. Visitation with family starting 10 am before service at Noon. Interment at Miami Memorial Park, 6200 SW 77 Avenue, Miami 33143. The family suggests donations to either Ransom Everglades School or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering via Wayside Baptist church. The church requests any flowers be delivered before 10 AM and food to be brought by 11 AM the morning of the 28th.

Uncle Tommy and Aunt Juanita (my Daddy and Moma) loved George so very much. So did I. We always looked forward to any visits from George and Linda. Being a retired engineer now who always liked math and science, I especially enjoyed listening to examples from George of how he used his teaching knowledge in the classroom to stimulate his students to love learning about and applying science and physics. George liked working on cars too. So did I (way back when it was so much easier to be a DIY auto mechanic). George also loved God and served as a wonderful Christian example within his family and the entire Dennison family.

Special thoughts and prayers to Linda, Pamela, and Jimmy.
