George Arthur Kennedy, age 80, of Roosevelt, passed away October 24, 2023 with his family by his side.
George was born November 22, 1942 in Harlan County Nebraska to George Bamford and Nellie Lucille Gipe Kennedy. He married Karen Horn, they later divorced, but remained friends through the years.
George was an electrician by trade, working for Farmland Industries in Phillipsburg, KS, was transferred with Farmland Industries to Scottsbluff, NE where he worked for 15 years, before moving to Roosevelt, UT to work for the local oil refinery. George spent many hours shoeing horses in Nebraska and Utah. He owned and operated Rough Riders Guiding and Outfitters, where many memories, and friends, were made. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rodeoing, but his most prized possessions were the top quality hounds he raised. George was a legendary cowboy and a houndsman known to all.
He delighted in spending time with his family and loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
George is survived by his ex-wife, Karen Kennedy; daughter, Jnell Huxford; four grandchildren: Bradi (Jared) O’Driscoll, Kayden (Brooke) Kennedy, Wyatt Huxford and Brandon (Alexx) Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Brantlee & Murdoch O’Driscoll; Kymber, Wesson, Kam, & Milly Kennedy; his siblings, Darlene (Harlan) Nonhof; Clarence (Barbara) Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis Ann Kennedy Polovitch, John “Jack” Polivitch; son, George Earl Kennedy; and grandson, John Bryce Kennedy.
He was a giant of a man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Hullinger Mortuary from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Per his wished he has been cremated.
