George M. "Matt" Kinsman, 72, of Towanda, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and his faithful canine companion Buddy.
Born on October 18, 1952, in Towanda, Matt was the cherished son of George and Genevieve (Walters) Kinsman. He attended Towanda Area Schools, graduating with the Class of 1971. He later pursued his passion for electronics at Ryder Tec in Allentown, PA, earning his degree.
On July 2, 1971, Matt married his high school sweetheart, Melissa Saxon, in the Catholic Church in Towanda. Together, they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage.
Matt began his career at Philco Ford in Lansdale, PA, before joining GTP, where he worked until his retirement in 2014. A skilled technician, he also operated his own business, repairing televisions, electronics, and satellites, until his health prevented him from continuing.
A devoted member of his community, Matt was affiliated with the Sons of The American Legion Post 42, the auxiliary of VFW Post 1568 in Towanda, and was a lifelong member of the Monroeton Rod and Gun Club. He also previously belonged to the Bridge Street Hill Rod and Gun Club.
An avid outdoorsman, Matt found joy in hunting, fishing, and exploring the beauty of Barclay Mountain. He took great pride in maintaining his property, especially mowing the fields. Known for his warm and welcoming nature, Matt greeted everyone with a hug and loved "clubbing," catching up on local news and sharing laughs with friends.
Matt's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Missy; his children, Dennis (Rachelle) Kinsman of Monroeton and Samantha Kinsman of Towanda; his mother, Genevieve Pierce; his brothers, Harry (Laurie) Kinsman of Towanda and Charles Kinsman of Towanda; his sisters, Christina Waznakowski of Wilkes Barre and Fawn (Linda) Kinsman of Minnesota; his canine companion, Buddy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, George M. Kinsman, his in-laws, Donald and Rebecca Saxon, and his brothers-in-law, Frank Saxon and Charles Waznakowski.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the VFW, 3271 Bridge Street Hill Road, Towanda, PA 18848. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial donations in Matt's name may be made to the Bradford County Humane Society, 24812 Route 220, Ulster, PA 18850.
