LAKE TWP. — George G. Lazur, 63, of Loyalville, Lake Township, passed away Aug. 4, 2024, at his home. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Susan King Lazur.
George was born Aug. 16, 1960, in Nanticoke to the late George A. Lazur and Delphine Oshinski Lazur. He was a former member of St. Joseph's Church, Nanticoke. A wonderful husband and father, he loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and working in the yard. He will truly be missed.
George was preceded in death by a brother–in-law, Leonard King.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons: George J. Lazur, of Loyalville; and Bryan Lazur (Suyean An), of Longview, Wash.; sisters: Bonnie (John) Kasko, Alice (Charles) Franklin, and Nancy Lazur, all of Nanticoke; sisters-in-law: Ellen (Carmen) Maccarone, of Sweet Valley; Barb (Jerry) Mikielski, of Lehman; Rose Weaver, of Forty Fort; Betsy (Ernie) Phillips, of Beaumont; and Beverly King, of Hunlock Creek; brothers-in-law: Lyle (Debbie Doughton), of Luzerne, and Michael King, of Meeker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Township.
At the family's request, please omit flowers and send memorial donations to: American Cancer Society. Astra-Zenica Hope Lodge, 110 W. Laurel Ave., Cheltenham, PA 19012; or Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19111.
Thank you to his Fox Chase cancer team, especially Dr. Michael Hall, Dr. Andreas Karachristos, Eric Tetzlaff, P.A. and their extended team of amazing nurses and staff. We are truly grateful for everything you provided for George. Thank you Hospice of the Sacred Heart for making his transition more comfortable. They would also like to thank AstraZeneca Hope Lodge for being our home away from home for his cancer treatments.
