George Raymond Lewis, 82, entered into rest on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
George was born on January 5, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to the late Alfred and Margaret Lewis. After graduating from high school, he began a long and distinguished career in civil service as a systems engineer at Robins Air Force Base, a job that he enjoyed. Dedicated to his work, George served faithfully for more than 50 years before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and commitment.
Above all else, George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was found in the love of his family and the cherished memories they created together. In quieter moments, he could often be found relaxing with a game of sudoku, a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Reba Beard Lewis.
His memory will forever be treasured by his daughter, Jennifer Simmons of Perry, Georgia; grandchildren, Hunter Bryce Lewis (Landi) of Aurora, Colorado, and Sky Leigh Simmons of Warner Robins, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Layton, Madison, and Sadie; and siblings, Judy Burdett of Atlanta, Georgia and Fred Lewis (Lori) of Hayesville, North Carolina, along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will be on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, George will be laid to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/@McCulloughFuneralHome via the McCullough Funeral Home’s YouTube page.
