On September 29, 2024, George C. Loving's battle with colon cancer ended in a draw. George went down swinging and when he died, so did his cancer. His family was at his side.
George was born on 10/06/1970 to Dorothy Loving (nee Hurwitz) and George Loving Sr. in Drexel Hill, PA. He was predeceased by his father in 1993 and his mother in 2019. He attended Upper Darby High School and graduated from Duquesne University in 1995 with a BS in music. His primary instrument was electric bass.
After college, George was a working musician who gigged, sat in, hustled and taught loads of student musicians to clap on 2 and 4. In 1999, George moved to Los Angeles and while there he walked dogs, waited tables, played The Viper Room, and made sensational music while learning to be a Personal Trainer. Upon his return to Philadelphia in 2005, he opened his first personal training studio. It was at that studio that he met his wife, Amy Loving (nee Bullock.) They married and had one son, George Charles Loving 3, in 2011.
By will, tenacity, patience, stubbornness and a belief and love for what he did, George created a thriving business at Fitness at Five East in Media, PA. With his right hand man, Joe Turnbull, at his side, George found joy and fulfillment in teaching people to move and care for their bodies while creating genuine bonds and lasting relationships.
To know George was to experience him telling a story in his unique rhythm and style. He loved to laugh and trade sarcasm and wit. He could talk or rant interestingly about music, culture, fermentation, the credit union, our dog, Doug, gardening, food, fishing and family. He always had a new project or interest and became a master at most anything he endeavored. George never stopped learning and trying new things, especially if Amy asked.
Upon his death, George had everything he ever wanted: a cozy home, good friends, a job he loved, and a perfect family in Amy and George 3. His pride in those things, especially his musical son, were reflected in all that he did. He was a present and peerless father and husband and Amy and George were the lucky recipients of everything he ever had to offer which was more than this galaxy could contain.
In addition to his wife and son, George is survived by his loyal mother in law, Linda Bullock, his sister, Beth Loving (George Kuney) and brothers-in-law Andrew Bennett (Amanda Moskow) and Matthew Bennett along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends and Family are invited to a visitation at Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 43 east Baltimore ave. Media, PA on Sunday, 10/06/24, George's 54th birthday, from 3-5pm. Interment Private.
