George Joseph Marlo

George Joseph Marlo of Beltsville, Maryland passed away peacefully on

Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 9:16 p.m. He was born on February 21,

1932 to his parents George and Mary Maslousky in Exeter, Pennsylvania.

He lived a full life of 92 years.

He is predeceased by his father, George Maslousky; mother, Mary Varish

Maslousky; brother, Ronald Maslousky; and brother, Francis Maslousky.

George is survived by Marie Chasko Marlo, his devoted wife of 67 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four children and their spouses,

Russell Marlo (Jeannie), Stephen Marlo (Hope), Joyce Giles (James) and

Jill Hensh (Steve); 11 grandchildren, Jacqueline Seligmann, Jessica

Weber, Christopher Marlo, Julianne Allen, Kylie Marlo, Taylor Hensh,

Stephen Marlo, Jennifer Lucchesi, Troy Hensh, Michael Marlo and Victoria

Hensh; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Paul Maslousky; and sister,

Loraine Vaxmonsky.

After graduating from Exeter High School, George joined the Army at the

age of 17. While in the army he went through basic training at Fort Dix in

New Jersey and was also stationed at Fort Monmouth (New Jersey), Fort

Meade (Maryland) and then was deployed to Korea. While in the Korean

War, he was a combat photographer and he earned 2 battle stars. After

serving his country for 2 years, 9 months and 17 days, George returned to

the United States and began his college career.

George attended Wilkes College earning an Associate’s degree, and then

continued his education at Penn State where he earned a Bachelor of

Science degree in Industrial Engineering in 1956. George would later

attend George Washington University where he graduated with a Bachelor

of Law degree on June 7, 1964.

George met the love of his life, Marie Chasko, after being introduced by a

mutual friend. Their courtship lasted for a little over 2 years before they

were married in Wyoming, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1957. The two

began their adventure as husband and wife in Rochester, New York where

George was employed at Eastman Kodak. While living in New York, they

welcomed their first child, Russell. They then moved to Hyattsville,

Maryland and George began his career at the U.S. Patent and Trademark

Office as a patent examiner, where he worked for over 40 years.

While attending law school at George Washington and working at the

Patent Office, George and Marie had two more children, Stephen and

Joyce. In 1965 the family of 5 moved to their forever home in Beltsville,

Maryland. Here they had their fourth child, Jill and planted deep roots in

their community.

George was a simple man and a hard worker. He could always be found

working in his garden, preparing the soil, planting, or harvesting his

delicious vegetables. He would can his own tomatoes, make pickles, and

he enjoyed every minute of nourishing his body with home grown organic

food.

In addition to gardening, photography was a passion of his that was clear to

anyone who knew him. In most settings, you could find George behind his

camera capturing some amazing candid moments.

George also had a great love for Walt Disney World. In 1973, he loaded up

his 1967 Chevy Biscayne and took his family on their first vacation to the

Magic Kingdom. This was a trip that he made every year for most of his

life. While park hopping was entertaining for the entire family, his real joy

was sharing his love of camping with his children and grandchildren at Fort

Wilderness.

Last but not least, was his love for dancing with his beautiful partner for life,

Marie. Once the two of them discovered Blob’s Park, you could find them

there most Friday and Saturday nights, dancing the night away. George

and Marie loved to polka, jitterbug and they even took salsa lessons. They

had their own reserved table with a number of friends and always enjoyed

their favorite band with Leon the accordion player/singer. Blob’s Park was

always a great spot to bring the family together to celebrate a birthday or

anniversary and create the most cherished memories.

Although George is gone, he will live on in our hearts forever.

Private funeral services are under the direction of Donald V. Borgwardt

Funeral Home in Beltsville, Maryland on February 27, 2025. George’s final

resting place will be the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
