George Marusak, 92 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Whitney Place Assisted Living.
Born on June 4, 1931, in Beaver Meadows, PA., he was a son of the late John and Mary (Leshko) Marusak. He lived in Worcester most of his life and graduated from Leo’s Beauty Academy. George worked as a hairdresser for 43 years in the Northborough area. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In his spare time, George enjoyed gardening, the beach and ocean, and traveling especially to Cape Cod.
George’s wife of 54 years, Maria “Rhea” (Malcangi) Marusak passed away on October 11, 2006. He is survived by two sons, George Marusak, Jr. and his wife Susan of Enfield, CT., and Stephen J. Marusak of Worcester; his daughter, Stephanie A. Paradise and her husband Robert of Northborough; a brother, Joseph Marusak of Pennsylvania; a sister, Dorothy Mihalo of New Jersey; fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, George is predeceased by ten siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 6-8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516
