George Raymond McFatter, Sr., 98, of Moss Bluff passed away at 1:47 PM on Monday, November 13, 2023 in his residence.
Mr. McFatter was born on March 12, 1926 in Fullerton, LA and was a 1945 graduate of Sugartown High School. He moved to the Lake Charles area in 1945 and began his 41 year career as an operator at Olin Corporation and retired in 1988. Mr. McFatter was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He took pleasure in watching sports, especially LSU football, hunting and fishing, and gardening. He will be remembered and cherished as a wonderful father, father in law, grandfather, and great grandfather who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are a son, George R. McFatter, Jr. (Penny Sue) of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Mitchell Mark McFatter (Carla) and Misty Marlene Thibodeaux (Cody); and great grandchildren, Brock Warren Thomas Beaugh, Levi Grey Thibodeaux, and Maddox Mark McFatter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella McFatter; a son, Warren Thomas McFatter; daughter, Alicia Ann McFatter; sisters, Willie Ray Polson, Maxine Deamer, Eloise Loveless, and JoEllen Richard; and brother, Billy McFatter.
The funeral service will be private, and burial will be at Highland Memorial Garden under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, lbch.org, 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
