George H. McGuire

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle;

George H. McGuire, 80, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his daughter's home.

He was the loving husband for over 37 years of Joan J. (Keenan) (Jump) McGuire, who survives him.

Born in Lowell, MA, November 1, 1945, the son of the late James and the late Claire (Smith) McGuire, he attended Lowell Schools and graduated from Lowell High School in the Class of 1963.

Before retirement, George worked as a salesman with Keefe Company Printing of Lowell for over 30 years.

A sports enthusiast, he loved golf and was a former member of the Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford, MA. He enjoyed watching Boston Sports, especially the Celtics. George treasured his time living on Plum Island with all of the family gatherings there and the friends he met. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Joan, he is survived by his four children from his first marriage, Michael P. McGuire of Dracut, MA, Maureen P. Ames and her husband Joe of Bowerbank, ME, Kathleen P. Rich and her husband Walter of Shirley, MA, and Colleen P. Preble and her husband Dan of Sebec, ME; nine grandchildren, Shawn McGuire, Megan Ames, Katherine Ames, Jessica Shanahan, John Shanahan, Kevin Shanahan, Lauren Preble, Brooke Preble, and Cierra Preble; two great grandchildren, Mila and AJ; a sister, Kerry Prowker of Lowell, MA; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and his favorite cat, Tootsie.

He was the father of the late Kevin Patrick McGuire and the brother of the late Robert McGuire, Carol West, and Gail Plouffe.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Golf Club 11 Staples St. in Lowell from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 P.M.
