George Philip McNally, Jr.
August 10, 1946 – September 15, 2025
George Philip “Phil” McNally, Jr., of Plantation, Florida, passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Queens, New York, on August 10, 1946, to George Philip McNally, Sr. and Ellen (“Nella”) McNally, Phil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader.
A graduate of Georgetown University in 1968, Phil remained a loyal Hoya throughout his life. He served for decades as President of the Georgetown Alumni Club of Fort Lauderdale, hosted the 2007 John Carroll Weekend in Broward County, and was elected to the University’s Board of Governors.
Phil built a successful career in banking, beginning at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York City. After moving to Florida in 1983, he held leadership roles at Southeast Bank and Admiralty Bank before becoming Area President and a founding shareholder of Paradise Bank.
In his community, Phil was a leader in education and service. He held positions with the Broward College Foundation, Paradise Education Foundation, Communities in Schools, and Seafarers’ House, and was a longtime youth coach with Plantation PAL. His volunteerism earned him recognition as Volunteer of the Year by both the national YMCA and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. In 2023, the City of Plantation proclaimed “We Love Philip McNally Day” to honor his decades of service.
Phil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eileen McNally; four children, Claire Frechette (Rob), Margaret Dettor (Todd), Elizabeth Roberts (Greg), and Edward McNally (Cheryl); and nine grandchildren: Grace, Andrew, Lulu, Olive, Blake, Cameron, John (Jack), Margaret (Maisie), and Ellen (Nella). He is also survived by his sisters, Maura Cochran (Bill) and Sheela Roxburgh (Dave), and cousin, Mary Lang Kerr (William).
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 7th, 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 N University Dr, Plantation, FL 33324.
