Obituary of George Edward Moltz
George Edward (Eddie) Moltz
May 21, 1936 – May 15, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce that our father, George Edward (Eddie) Moltz, 87, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on May 15, 2024. He was born May 21, 1936, in Washington, DC to the late Michael Alexander Moltz, Sr. and Carrie Virginia Moltz (nee Harper).
He is survived by his daughters Debbie (Ronnie) Walburn of Dunkirk, MD, Pam Webb of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Dawn (Don) Grey of Surfside Beach, SC and Mary (Joe) Roberts of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren Toni, Jennifer, Angela, Casey, Amanda, Corey, LJ, Cole, Shelby; great-grandchildren, Breunna, Jay, Makayla, Taylor, Carter, Chase, Callie, Zach, Charlotte, Piper and Logan; sister Beverly Kahl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death on February 14, 2024 by his loving wife of 65 years, Peggy Ann Moltz; as well as his sisters, Dorothy Jackson, Lorraine Wuerschmidt, Mary Lou Brezina, Betty Smandra and Carolyn Kettner; and his brothers Charles Joseph Moltz, Michael Moltz, Jr., Montgomery Moltz, Robert Moltz, Colin Moltz and Preston Moltz.
Eddie and Peggy married on October 10, 1958; raised their daughters and lived in Riverdale, MD for 30 years but also called Dunkirk, MD home for a number of years before moving to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2006. Eddie began his career as a fence installer with United Fence Company at a very young age serving the Maryland, Virginia, DC area. He was well respected in his field and honed his craft into a master welder, installer and estimator. He retired from Metropolitan Fence Company in Bladensburg, MD at the age of 70 when he and Peggy moved to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Eddie was an extremely hard worker, taking pride in his work and providing for his family. He was always the life of the party, making jokes, singing, and dancing. He loved golfing in his younger years, listening to classic country music, making small wooden toys for the kids, and fixing anything that was broken. He enjoyed spending time with family but above all, he loved his wife, Peggy Ann. All of his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will miss their Poppa.
